Biography
Meet Jordan Green
“A talented, prolific, and resourceful composer whose work connects with audiences and performers alike.” UTSA Department of Music
Jordan Green is a Dallas-born composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist now based in the San Antonio area. His music traverses film, video games, choral writing, orchestral collaboration, and original instrumental work. Throughout his varied projects, what remains consistent is Jordan’s strong melodic sensibilities and deep intuitive sense for dramatic musical storytelling.
He studied music composition at the University of Texas at San Antonio, where he graduated summa cum laude, received the Presser Scholar Award, and won first place in the choral selection of UTSA’s 2023 New Music Festival Composition Contest. Those accolades reflect a growing body of work shaped by formal study, creative instinct, and an understanding of the different instruments’ capabilities.
As a multi-instrumentalist, Jordan brings a performer’s perspective to the page. His experience with piano, voice, guitar, percussion and Arabic Oud gives his writing a wider sense of texture, color, and phrasing.
Whether writing for a short film, a choir, or a collaborative media project, Jordan approaches composition as a way to deepen the emotional world of the work. His music is shaped by the belief that sound has the power to create truly unforgettable moments.
Musical roots
Jordan's love for music began in the pews of church and the seats of movie theatres. Movie scores such as “The Legend of Zorro,” “Kung Fu Panda,” and “How to Train Your Dragon” captured the imagination of his youth. Though it was not until high school, armed with a small keyboard and free composition software, that he began to create his own musical stories.
Inspired by story
Jordan was drawn to music that could make a scene feel deeper, a text feel more alive, and a performance feel more emotionally complete.
Built through practice
He began composing independently, learning through experimentation, piano, software, and a growing curiosity for musical structure.
Refined through collaboration
His work continues to grow through projects with performers, directors, developers, composers, and creative teams.
Multi-instrumentalist section
A composer’s voice that emerges from an unexpected place.
Jordan’s multi-instrumental background is more than a line in his bio. It shapes the very essence of his music. One such special instrument he has the joy of playing is the Arabic Oud. He started learning in 2020, but began more serious formal training in 2025 under Aliya Cycon, a previous student of the legendary Simon Shaheen. Through exploring this 11-string fretless instrument, his music contains many unique colors influenced by the modal sounds of the Iberian Peninsula and the Levant.

How Jordan writes
Music that supports the emotional center of the work.
Jordan’s process is ultimately guided by the emotions, and is then shaped to match the specific medium he is working in, whether the music is written for a choral ensemble or a full sized orchestra.
Even while being proficient in the latest musical writing software, he has a heart for the old ways. He always sketches his choral music on paper first, as he believes the slow act of writing gives him greater clarity in the direction he wants the music to go.
